Arthur D. Summo
Arthur Daniel Summo, age 89, of Bethel, CT, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 14, 2012. He was the husband of the late Rosalie Guadagnoli Summo.
Mr. Summo was born in New Rochelle, NY, May 28, 1923, son of the late Samuel and Hannah (Kniesch) Summo. He graduated High School in New Rochelle and entered the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Puerto Rico. He married Rosalie Guadagnoli while stationed in Cleveland, OH. On their return home he worked as a machinist. He and his wife built a summer cottage in Bethel and decided to move to the country permanently. He worked as a Carpenter for Dolan & Morganti and belonged to the United Federation of Carpenters.
For many years, he enjoyed playing the stand-up bass with his band and belonged to the Danbury Musicians Association. He had a wonderful singing voice.
Arthur is survived by his son: Arthur M. Summo and his wife Leila of Bethel, CT; 3 grandsons: Rodney Daniel Summo of Breckenridge, CO; Brian Summo, his wife Nadia and great granddaughters Mallory & Gwen all of Roanoke, VA and Aaron Summo of Wallingford, CT. He is also survived by his special friend: Janet Peterson of Bethel. They were both very active members of the Bethel Senior Center and participated in the swim and exercise programs. They also looked forward to all the casino trips.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Bethel, Thursday morning at 11:30. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bethel.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00.
