Helen-Marie H. Poole

Helen-Marie (Howe) Poole, of Bethel, CT, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Sherwood D. Poole. They had been married for 50 years.

She was born in Darien, CT on November 2, 1930, daughter of the late Frederick and Helen (Dakin) Howe. A resident of Bethel since 1972, she formerly lived in Darien. Helen-Marie worked as a senior engineering clerk for Burndy Corp. in Bethel. Prior to that she worked for Consolidated Controls Corp, Bethel. She was a member of AARP #2449, and the Bethel Senior Center. Helen-Marie enjoyed writing poetry, which allowed her to express her inner thoughts, and to write about the beauty that surrounds all of us, and has had many of her poems published.

She is survived by her son: John S. Poole of Fort Walton Beach, FL; one grand-daughter: Julia M. Poole of Oakville, CT and many nephews and nieces, including Joni Normandin of Thomaston, CT. She was predeceased by her son: Ronald E. Poole; four sisters: Grace Jones, Gladys McClure, Alice Bilodeau and Dorothy Detmer; and two brothers: Frederick P. Howe, Jr. and Elvin B. Howe. She is also survived by her dear friend: Ernest Fetchko of New York.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00.

The funeral will be held at the Bethel Funeral Home, Saturday morning at 10:00. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Bethel, CT.
