Norma Phyllis (Berg) Nathanson, 101, of Bethel, CT, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024, in Windham, Maine. She was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Ada E. (Hollins) Berg. Born in Boston, MA, December 23, 1922, she was married at Trinity Episcopal Church, Boston, MA to the late Charles H. Nathanson, Sr. They moved to CT in 1950 where she raised her family, built her life and career.
Norma graduated from North Quincy High School and went on to work at the Boston Gas Company, retiring from Data Control Systems, Danbury, CT, as Executive Assistant to the president.
A long-time parishioner of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bethel, Norma loved her church community, where she found both solace and joy throughout her life. Her passion was to spend time at her summer home on Little Sebago Lake in Maine as she affectionately called it “The closest place to heaven she knows” where she spent her final days.
She is survived by her three sons, Charles H. Jr. (Jeanne) of Leander, TX; Ralph E. (Cheryl) and Richard M. (Melissa), both of Bethel, CT. Norma’s legacy of kindness and resilience will live on through them and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter, nieces and a nephew. She will be missed by all.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband and sisters, Hilda J. Bowden, Alice D. Bugden and Edith L. Nilsson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 95 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, CT 06801, in memory of Norma. A celebration of life is to be held September 28, at 11 AM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
